Let's first tackle the idea that the repair bill for dishwasher service will be huge. If there is a major problem with your dishwasher then yes the repair bill might end in a number that makes your heart skip a beat (and not in a good way). No one plans for their dishwasher to start inexplicably leaking or not draining and even the most budget-savvy homeowner will be hard-pressed to have money set aside for all appliance repairs that come up. However consider this: the cost of getting appliance repairs done when you need them means that your appliance will be in good health for the foreseeable future.
If you are currently in the process of planning to remodel your kitchen then you are probably starting to think of a remodeling plan for what changes you want to make. If you have not completed yours yet then maybe you should consider putting a dishwasher in those plans if you do not have one already. Even if all of your kitchen remodeling is planned and prepared if you want a dishwasher then you should still consider adding it to the plan that you have.
Size up your options. While most conventional dishwashers are the under-counter type which are 60cm wide there are more compact options out there for those that want to save kitchen space. First off there are 45cm machines which have a capacity of around a third of a full-size dishwasher. That still amounts to around 20 pieces each of crockery and cutlery though so it's often an economical option for small families. Table-top dishwashers are also available for kitchens where space is at a real premium.
